Jamaica Plain

WHITEHAUS
Lovely music & arts home, centrally located in Boston! This house has existed in many facets... Currently we have a garden (my favorite), 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 old electric organs, 1 much older pump organ, 1 baby grand piano, 1 upright piano (both need some tuning), a piano sound board from a baby grand (that I need help lifting onto saw horses), a basement where loud shows happen. Quiet shows can be in the 'hoot room' (where the pianos are), in the basement or possibly on the porch / backyard....
What we can offer to touring folks ::: a nights sleep out of the elements. Shower with soap (no towels, sry), limited bedding. But def. food, many dumpsters around here too. and door money. Money gets split to everyone that plays but priority goes to the touring band. I also book an outdoor series in the summer in some abandoned bear cages here in Boston too.. the line up is about 10 bands, 15min. sets.
Art & community are grown in parallel, in response, to the world. Difference is celebrated. Not only tolerated. We celebrate those who have been excluded from the arts due to race, class, gender identity, sexuality, disabilities or country of origin. Individuals have the right to be emotionally and physically safe. Individuals have the right to be respected, and have their views and opinions valued. By booking with us, you are agreeing to adhere to ensuring that your material (published/online/for live performance/etc) will not contain anything that might be considered offensive to the LGBTQA communities, POC, women and people with disabilities. We are a safe space and our housemates come first. If you jeopardize the safety or comfort of a housemate (in performance or otherwise) you will be asked to not perform and/or asked to leave. IF YOU'RE UNSURE IF IT'S OFFENSIVE, it probably is and don't play it, or just ask...... Additionally by booking here you're agreeing to share this information with your tour mates and are each accountable for yourselves and each other in upholding our safe space values. If your tour mate is racist, abusive etc etc, this is not the house for YOU! stephanielak [at] gmail [dot] com
